Treasured Memories Part II

The toymaker had a wee daughter, Velvet, who believed that fairies truly lived and was not remotely surprised when she found the mouse's home. She told J. A. her father built it hoping for the resident who would furnish it perfectly. Droffats puffed himself out with pride. He knew well how handsome his digs were.

Mouse and Velvet became good friends. They both loved reading, beautiful interesting clothes, anything twinkly, exploring and drawing. Velvet confided in J. A. , telling him how she wanted to be an art teacher and writer when she grew up.

Velvet often helped her dad open boxes when a shipment of magical items arrived. Her dad told stories about the toys they unwrapped and displayed. He was always creating toys himself to complement those he bought. Velvet's favorite was an intricate miniature bed that he constructed for her. It was painted carefully and brushed with gold. White tulle netting dotted with rhinestones prevented any mosquito from entering. The most extraordinary rabbit princess slept there. She was so small she needed a ladder to reach the fluffy comforter.  Velvet loved that bed so much that she was intent on giving it to her own daughter in good time.  (to be continued from the Caribbean - Earth)
