Heart Day Hunt Part VI

The Woodland tree house picnic began. Steaming bowls of cream of mushroom soup were served, followed by winter chard and cheese quiche. The dessert, chocolate cheese cake, baked by pastry frog chef, Staffie, was a delight for all.

When the sumptuous meal was over, dishes were washed, dried, and stacked carefully in Sophie's kitchen cabinet. Everyone bundled up, flew or climbed down the long ladder, and filed along the pathway leading to the nearby Woodland garden.

A surprise awaited them when they arrived - The White Hare.

Standing a good 20 Whimble feet taller than any Whimble, the hare had kind brown eyes that sparkled with mischief. He was magnificently dressed in winter whites with a peach and mauve silk feathered top hat, complementing the attire to perfection. In his hands he held a lacy white branch laden with a bejeweled nest that held three perfect blue eggs.

There were gasps all around. (to be continued from The Woodlands - Caelumen)
