Stafford the Tiny Tree Frog
The tiny tree frog, found throughout The Woodlands, is an inquisitive, determined animal. One day shortly after Manning was born, a baby frog named Stafford strayed far far away from his family. His curiosity led him to a very large oak tree. Wanting to climb he tried with all his might to jump onto the trunk but to no avail. Manning’s father watched these efforts from his home perched far up in the tree. He climbed down his ladder, picked up the wee frog, comforted him, and carried him back up to meet his new born. The two were instant friends. Not long after the arrival, when a miniature tree home for the frog was completed, Stafford became Manning’s Companion for life.
Stafford still has jumping issues from time to time. He refers to them as his “splat splat days,” but because Manning is always there to give encouragement, the tiny tree frog finds the confidence to jump as high as the sky once again. Stafford, ever grateful for his best friend, is always at the ready when Manning tires and cannot go on.
