Penelope the Emperor Penguin and Honorary Friend of the Whimbles

Penelope was an infant when she met the first Whimbles and their Companion. Orchid twins, Rudi and Sasha wanted to celebrate The Fall Solstice by riding their Companion, Elspeth the Elfin Dragon, all the way to Longest Night Sea. It was a clear evening for flying. The dragon did one “loop de loop” after another under the stars above the northern sea. Suddenly, the riders saw a small creature watching from the ice far below them. Elspeth glided down and slid to a stop next to the small animal. Penelope was frightened and bewildered. Nervously brushing off the snowy spray with her flipper, she backed away from the visitors.

“Oh, don’t be afraid. You’re so cute. Who are you and what are you?” Sasha inquired.

That question broke the tension. Everyone was introduced all round, and endless questions were asked. Before they knew it, the long night vanished. With the sun rising over the mountains, Penelope returned to her parents, and the visitors flew home to The Grasslands. But, before leaving, they promised to return and to bring other Lumenesians to see their newest friend, Penelope the Emperor Penguin.
